Snow Queen @ York Theatre Royal

Last chance this week to see this little children’s show in York before it embarks on a national tour:

Snow Queen

I did some sewing work on the set and so actually sneaked in and watched it last week. I can therefore highly recommend it if you do have little ones - it’s a great introduction to the magical and imaginative world of theatre. Here’s one of the reviews:

Going for Growth @ The_Hawkhills

I recently attended an amazing and intensive weekend training course in a beautiful stately home setting, not far from my hometown of York. Aimed at small businesses looking to grow, and led by two inspirational teacher / trainers I can highly recommend this course to anyone who is looking to grow their business.

(Of course, while I was there, I also took the opportunity of gathering some images for my learners to work from next term.)

Back to the Rose

As York's Shakespeare Rose Theatre season draws to an end, I feel I can now share some images from the studio / production stage without giving too much away.

And if you haven't already seen any of the shows - I would certainly recommend that you catch at least one of them. The venue is amazing and a real asset to York's cultural scene. Not sure how many seats are left for the final shows this week (it was packed to capacity on Saturday night, when I was there), but even if you have to be a last minute groundling it really is an unforgettable experience.

I believe the reviews are pretty good too :-)

I've had a busy but very creative time in my studio these last few weeks - working with some lovely friends and colleagues, making head dresses, masks, banners and the like for the new 'pop up' Rose Theatre that has recently appeared in York's Clifford Tower car park.

Sketchbook workshop:

I had a lovely day on Saturday on a Karen Stamper workshop - experimenting with texture and urban sketching ideas, with lots of other lovely artists from all around the country. Loved the variety of work which was produced - so much potential for this way of working. I'm definitely feeling inspired, and would highly recommend Karen's workshops if you ever get the opportunity. You can find out more about Karen here
