About me:

I am a professional artist and a qualified Further Education teacher.

Born in Yorkshire and now based in the City of York my 30 year career has centred around both theatre production and the teaching of adults. During this time I have designed shows, painted scenery and made props and costumes for theatre companies both here in the UK and abroad, and I have also taught in a wide variety of settings.

My recent theatre clients have included:

  • Shakespeare's Rose Theatre, York

  • Hull Truck / Royal Shakespeare Company

  • West Yorkshire Playhouse, Leeds

  • York Theatre Royal

  • Harrogate Theatre Scenic Services

  • Sheffield Theatres

  • English Touring Theatre

  • York Minster

And my teaching experience has included workshops and courses at:

  • York City Art Gallery

  • York Museums

  • York EXPLORE libraries

  • Colleges and Universities (UK wide)

  • Yorkshire based Art Groups

  • numerous community venues around the City of York including community centres, children centres, schools, church halls and a local prison

Recent theatre shows I have worked on include: ‘Dick Whittington’ (Oxford Playhouse), 'MacBeth", "A Midsummer Night's Dream", "Romeo and Juliet", "Richard III" (Shakespeare Rose Theatre, York), "The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe', 'Strictly Ballroom', 'Chitty Chitty, Bang Bang' (West Yorkshire Playhouse, Leeds),  'Jack and the Beanstalk', 'Everything is Possible', 'The Hound of the Baskervilles' (York Theatre Royal) and 'York Mystery Plays' (York Minster).

And in my role as Senior Tutor & Observer for York Learning (Adult Education) I teach regular art & craft based courses including ‘Painting and Drawing’, ‘Lino Printing’, ‘Experimental Watercolours’ and ‘Learn to Crochet’. I also teach privately and I am involved in annual Community Art Projects across the City of York. Recently these have included: ‘Bloom’, 'PolliNation', 'Tiger Moths and Memories', 'Santa's Socks' and 'ADAM' festival'.
