PolliNation

A York Learning city-wide project - led by Claire Douglas (with workshops delivered by Donna Maria Taylor and other York Learning tutors)

2017

This 2017 Community Art Project was a collaboration between York Learning, York EXPLORE library and the Universities of York, Sheffield and Lancaster. It formed part of the 'Telling the Bees' project which explored the stories and possible futures of honey bees and their role in our world.

The completed artwork PolliNation, inspired by microscopic images of pollen, was formed from over 450 individual hexagons, created using coloured pencils on mdf. The final installation was exhibited in the cafe area of York EXPLORE during November 2017.

2019

During 2019 all 470 hexagons could again be seen on display in the upper corridor of City Screen and then Southlands Methodist Church, Bishopthorpe Road, York.
