The Place where I Live

A York Learning city-wide project - led by Claire Douglas (with workshops delivered by Donna Maria Taylor and other York Learning tutors)

2020-22

Before the lockdown took effect, a unique community project in York inspired local residents to unleash their creativity through artwork.

Participants were encouraged to depict various aspects of the city that held personal significance, whether it be a familiar neighborhood or a cherished landmark.

Each small art piece contributed to a larger mosaic representing the collective spirit of the community.

Workshops were organised to foster collaboration and artistic expression among the residents, creating a vibrant tapestry of perspectives and experiences.

The final masterpiece was proudly showcased at prominent venues like City Screen and the EXPLORE Library, serving as a visual celebration of York's rich history and diverse community.
